O diretor palestino Hamdan Ballal, vencedor do Oscar 2025 de Melhor Documentário pelo filme “Sem Terra”, foi solto nesta terça-feira (25/3), após ter sido detido por soldados de Israel, em ação descrita como sequestro por testemunhas, em Susya, vilarejo na Cisjordânia Ocupada.

Segundo nota no X (antigo Twitter), publicada pelo também diretor Yuval Abraham, Ballal foi linchado e espancado por um grupo de colonos israelenses. Ele foi ferido na cabeça e no estômago.
Ao ser levado sangrando para uma ambulância, os israelenses invadiram o veículo e o sequestraram. Ele ou a noite algemado e foi espancado na base militar. “Agora ele está livre para voltar para a sua família”, afirmou o diretor na nota.
Segundo relato de testemunhas, Hamdan foi linchado em sua própria residência na presença dos sete filhos. Após a denúncia feita nas redes sociais, a comunidade internacional se mobilizou em busca de notícias sobre Ballal.

O documentário No Other Land (“Sem Terra”, em tradução livre) acompanha a luta dos palestinos contra a ocupação israelense em Masafer Yatta, na Cisjordânia, e registra a destruição de casas e a expulsão forçada de moradores palestinos, o que, segundo o filme, ocorreu para dar lugar a uma base militar israelense.
