Morreu, aos 86 anos, o empresário Mario Adler, ex-presidente da Brinquedos Estrela e criador do Dia das Crianças no Brasil, nesta sexta-feira (30/5), em São Paulo. A causa da morte não foi divulgada.

O sepultamento ocorrerá neste domingo (1º/6), no Cemitério Israelita do Butantã, na zona oeste da capital paulista.
Ele foi presidente da Estrela até 1993, quando vendeu a empresa de brinquedos. A indústria já foi considerada uma das maiores do Brasil, fundada pelos seus pais, os judeus alemães Sigfried e Lizelote.
Nos últimos anos de vida, Mario atuou como voluntário de diversas instituições benemerentes.

Em nota, a Confederação Nacional Israelita do Brasil (Conib) lamentou a morte do empresário, que foi diretor e membro do conselho.
"Foi empresário incansável em sua atividade, líder comunitário e figura de grande destaque também na filantropia".
Mario Adler foi o responsável por criar o Dia das Crianças em território brasileiro, uma das mais importantes datas para o comércio, comemorada em 12 de outubro.

"Acreditávamos que seria uma ação de marketing interessante para incrementar os negócios, mas não tínhamos a menor noção da importância que iria adquirir com o tempo", comentou Mario sobre a criação da data, em entrevista ao "Estadão" em 2017.
Segundo informações do acervo do Memorial da Imigração Judaica, Mario revelou que os pais dele tiveram que deixar a Alemanha na década de 1930, com a ascensão do exército nazista de Adolf Hitler. Em 1937 chegaram ao Brasil, conforme o memorial, "praticamente sem nada nos bolsos".
"Um amigo de Sigfried lhe deu uma representação para vender um tipo de tampa de garrafa. Começou então, a procurar clientes para este produto, e até que se deu bem. Mario conta que seu pai achava 'muito chato' vender tampinhas de garrafa e que perguntou a um amigo se ele não sabia de algo melhor para que ele pudesse fazer, alguma novidade", diz o texto do museu.

O amigo sugeriu ao pai de Mario uma oficina falida, responsável por produzir bonecas de pano.
"A oficina se resumia a quatro máquinas de costura em um sobrado, onde embaixo funciona uma escola de samba. O nome da oficina era Estrella, com dois eles na ortografia antiga."
