Um dos motivos desta ação está no comportamento de algumas aves durante a época de acasalamento. Nessa fase, elas se tornam mais territoriais e defensivas.
Com o reflexo dos espelhos dos carros, as aves podem interpretar a presença de um rival, o que faz com que elas ataquem o próprio reflexo com bicadas e movimentos agressivos. Esses ataques podem causar danos aos retrovisores e à pintura do carro.
Segundo a fonte “El Motor”, não só os ataques e arranhões das aves, mas também as fezes podem representar um problema para o seu carro.

O dejeto desta classe biológica possui componentes ácidos que, em contato com o carro por tempo prolongado, podem corroer o verniz e comprometer a pintura.
